The part of Anne Frank is played by Luna Cruz Perez. Luna was born in Zaandam in 2006 and later moved to Uithoorn. She is in the second year of high school. Luna is a sweet, caring and always cheerful girl. In her spare time, she likes to hang out with her friends, watching Netflix on the couch. Luna also loves her rabbit and often plays with it. Luna has previously had a small part in a Dutch crime series. The role of Anne Frank is her first major role as a beginning actress. It fits Luna like a glove, because she and Anne are very much alike. They both have cheerful and energetic personalities, which made it easy for Luna to take on the role of Anne Frank. Luna hopes to play in other films and series in the future.
The part of Margot Frank is played by Shai Eschel. Shai was born in Amsterdam in 2004. She lives with her parents and younger sister in Amstelveen. She is currently in the fourth year of high school. Shai ambitions include writing, acting, and directing. She doesn’t know what she wants to do after high school yet. It could well be something to do with TV or film. This is Shai's first part as an actress. She is extremely enthusiastic and the role of Margot Frank suits her well, because Shai, like Margot Frank, is a calm and subdued girl. She’s curious to see what will happen after the Anne Frank video diary – an secretly hoping for a chance to do more acting.
The part of Peter van Pels is played by Ezra Blok. Ezra was born in Rotterdam in January 2004. Ezra is in the fourth year of high school. This is Ezra’s first acting role. He hopes to do more acting work in the future. His ambition is to one day become a great actor. It wasn’t long after his audition before Ezra received a call that he had gotten the part of Peter van Pels. Acting in the Anne Frank video diary was a fantastic and very special experience. While the series was shot, Ezra was always very much aware of what was expected of him, he was always cheerful and very coachable.
The part of Otto Frank is played by Noël van Santen. Noël van Santen was born in 1973 and lives in Utrecht. Noël graduated as an actor from the Utrecht School of the Arts. While still in school, he won a number of cabaret awards. Ten theatre programmes followed, three of which were nominated for the best cabaret programme of the season. In between his cabaret programmes, Noël has worked with various theatre companies, he is one of the founders of a new Utrecht theatre company, and he has played in the musical De Marathon.
Katharina Justic
The part of Edith Frank is played by Katharina Justic, who was born in Rotterdam in 1978. Katharina is a Dutch actress with a Croatian background. In 2002, she graduated as an actress from Toneelacademie Maastricht. She is best known for her parts in Dutch soap series such as Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden and Onderweg Naar Morgen. She has also played in various theatre productions, including the theatre marathon Tantalus by theatre group De Appel.
