Below, we answer frequently asked questions about buying tickets, visiting the museum, group visits, and more.

Tickets

According to our visiting conditions we do not reschedule tickets or give refunds. Not even in case of circumstances beyond your control, such as public transport problems, a negative travel advice or personal circumstances. We are sorry to disappoint you.

Visit to the museum

I have a ticket with time slot. How long can I stay in the museum?

You can take all the time you need for your visit. Only your starting time (= your time slot) is set. On average, a visit takes an hour.

Can I take pictures inside the Anne Frank House?

In order to protect the original items in the museum and to avoid causing nuisance to other visitors, photography is not allowed in the museum.

Can I book a guided tour in the museum?

We do not have guided tours. However, an audio tour is available in nine languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. You can also book an introductory program.

Is there a cloakroom in the Anne Frank House?

There is a free cloakroom at the museum. You can leave your coat, bag, or buggy here. Only bags that are smaller than an A4 sheet of paper can be carried inside. We do not have room to store large bags and backpacks, suitcases, or other large items. Please leave your luggage at your hotel or deposit it at the drop & go at Amsterdam Central Station, otherwise, you may not be able to come inside the museum. Read our Cloakroom Regulations.

Can I take a large backpack or suitcase into the Anne Frank House?

We do not have room to store large bags and backpacks, suitcases, or other large items. Please leave your luggage at your hotel or deposit at Amsterdam Central Station, otherwise, you may not be able to come inside the museum.

Tickets

Can I exchange my ticket or get a refund?

Unfortunately, we cannot give refunds. Not even in case of circumstances beyond your control, such as public transport problems, a negative travel advice or personal circumstances. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for Visitors.

The website indicates that the tickets for a specific day are sold out. What can I do?

We do understand your disappointment. The Anne Frank House is a small museum with limited space. We have maximum opening hours but the demand exceeds the number of available tickets. Tickets sell out very fast. If there are no more tickets available on the selected date, we are sold out. There is no ticket sales in the museum.

I bought several tickets at once, these are all in my name, is that a problem?

No, it is not. The only condition is that you yourself are present at the visit to the museum.

I want to add one or more tickets to my booking, is that possible?

Unfortunately, you cannot add extra tickets to a booking. Please go to our website to check the ticket availability for the day of your visit.

I have a Dutch Museum Card or a European Youth Card. Can I visit the Anne Frank House whenever I want?

Also with a Dutch Museum Card, you will have to make a reservation in advance. You only pay the booking charges of € 1,00.
If you have a European Youth Card, you have to book your tickets in advance, too. You pay € 7,00 a ticket including the booking fee of € 1,00.

I bought a ticket, but I have not received a confirmation. What should I do?

Have you checked your spam box?

Is it a ticket for today, than we advise you to go to the museum and contact one of our staff members outside the museum. They will help you.

Is it a ticket for another day, please send a message via our contact form with your name and the date of your planned visit to the Anne Frank House. We will help you out and you will receive a confirmation by mail.

Has your account not been charged? In that case, you have not bought a ticket yet. Please go back to our tickets sales page and try again.

Can I still add an introductory program to an e-ticket that I have already purchased?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to add an introductory program to a ticket that you have bought before.

Individual programs

If I book an individual program, do I still need to buy separate tickets?

No, you do not need to buy separate tickets. A visit to the museum is included in the reservation of an introductory program.

Can I still add an introductory program to a ticket that I have already purchased?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to book a separate introductory program if you have already purchased a ticket.

How long does the introductory program take?

The introductory program takes 30 minutes. After the program, you get to visit the museum yourself.

In what languages are the introductory programs available?

In English and in Dutch. During the booking process, please select your preferred language.

Programs for schools and groups

Can I book a program and pay later?

Program costs and the entrance fees for the visitors in your group must be paid in advance by creditcard or iDEAL.

I have lost my proof of reservation and/or the confirmation email. What should I do?

Please contact us via our contact form and put the name of your school or organisation in the email. We will send you a new confirmation email.

How long is the educational program for schools and could it be shortened?

The educational program for schools takes 2 hours and 15 minutes. This includes the visit to the museum. The content is fixed and therefore the duration cannot be shortened.

How long does the introductory program for groups take?

The introductory program for groups takes 30 minutes. After the program, your group gets to visit the museum. Make sure you arrive on time. Since we run the program back to back, we have to start on time.

I have booked an (educational) program. What time should my group be at the museum?

Please make sure that your group is at the group entrance at least 5 minutes before the time printed on the tickets.

My group is larger than the maximum of 35 people. What should I do?

If there are more than 35 people in your group, you could split the group in two. Please make a separate reservation for each group.

Can I take an educational program in English?

Yes, you can. Educational program are offered in English, Dutch and German.
