In 2015, the Anne Frank House received an additional gift of € 910,000 from the BankGiro Loterij for its project ‘The Anne Frank House is getting ready for a new generation’.
70 years after the end of the Second World War, young visitors in particular often lack the knowledge about the war and the persecution of the Jews they need in order to understand and experience the story of Anne Frank and the other people in hiding. This requires a new approach to help the museum communicate this part of history to future generations. The extra contribution allows us to do this.
‘Over the next few years, we hope to welcome many participants in the BankGiro Loterij to the renovated museum.’
The BankGiro Loterij is the main culture lottery in the Netherlands. In 2017, 66 cultural institutions in the Netherlands received a total of € 62.5 million thanks to nearly 600,000 participants in the BankGiro Loterij.
